RESEARCH EXPERTISE
- To create a comprehensive perception of a complex sensory environment, information must be shared, at the neuronal level, across the boundaries between the different sensory modalities. My research combines electrophysiological and neuroanatomical techniques to examine the activity of multisensory neurons, how they integrate convergent sensory information, and where they send their messages in the brain. This research provides insight into basic brain function and neural models for robotics and sensor fusion, as well as into how the brain compensates for loss of inputs from a sensory system (e.g., deafness).
