Our Mission

The mission of the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology is to maintain excellence in all its teaching activities across VCU’s School of Medicine, School of Dentistry and Graduate School. Such educational excellence will be reflected in continued accomplishment in the classroom, together with the development and use of alternative educational packages to improve student learning.

In concert with this drive for excellence in teaching, the department will also maintain continued growth and accomplishment in research and scholarship, gaining further national and international recognition via the generation of high-impact papers supported by substantial extramural funding.

It is assumed that the department’s research focus in the neurosciences will translate into important new basic science discoveries, with the potential for translation to the clinic.
